Seasonal Farm Jobs in Canada

Understand seasonal agricultural work in Canada and the difference between seasonal job listings and the federal Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program.

Canada Farms Jobs is an independent employment information website and is not a Government of Canada website. Immigration and work-permit requirements can change; always verify current requirements with the Government of Canada.

Seasonal agricultural work in Canada

Agricultural demand changes throughout the year. Farms may recruit workers for planting, harvesting, packing, crop maintenance and other tasks that depend on the production season.

Seasonal jobs and SAWP are not the same thing

A job can be seasonal without being part of the Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program (SAWP). SAWP is a specific federal program with eligibility rules for employers and workers.

Who can participate in SAWP?

Government of Canada guidance says eligible workers must be citizens of Mexico or a participating Caribbean country, be recruited by their government and work for SAWP employers in Canada.

How long can SAWP employment last?

Current federal employer guidance allows eligible SAWP employment for a maximum period of eight months between January 1 and December 15, subject to program requirements.

Search current seasonal opportunities

Review employment terms in each vacancy. You can also browse fruit picker jobs and greenhouse jobs.

Verify immigration requirements

If you are outside Canada, do not assume a seasonal vacancy is automatically open internationally. Verify the hiring program and current work-permit requirements through official Government of Canada information.
