Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Grade 12 education
Experience: Candidates should have Five years’ journeyman experience in equipment repairs

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a valid provincial or inter-provincial Journeyperson designation in Automotive, Truck and Transport, or Heavy Duty mechanics. Possession of a recognized Apprenticeship Certificate is preferred
  • The candidates should have a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence and provide a current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record
  • The candidates should obtain a WHMIS training certificate, with training provided upon hire and have considerable knowledge of the operation and use of current test equipment
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade and have knowledge of electronic engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air/hydraulic brakes, and other on-board vehicle systems
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision, individually or as a team member and have the ability to comprehend technical service manuals and bulletins
  • The candidates should be able to process and complete all required forms and reports and possess demonstrated skills in welding and fabrication
  • The candidates should have skill in the operation of a computer

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to maintain and repair a variety of equipment under the supervision of the Supervisor X and review work orders, carry out repairs, and perform preventative maintenance on a variety of vehicles and equipment
  • The candidates should be able to service and carry out preventative maintenance on a fleet of parks maintenance equipment and inspect equipment, including road tests where necessary, and test various systems and components to determine specific problems
  • The candidates should be able to adjust, repair, and replace parts and components of equipment using hand tools and other specialized equipment and test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer’s performance specifications
  • The candidates should be able to diagnose and repair a wide variety of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and associated components and perform minor fabrication and welding duties as required
  • The candidates should be able to complete required documentation such as inspection forms, and service reports and perform any other related duties as assigned
  • The candidates should be able to support and promote the health and safety of employees and the general public in accordance with relevant regulations and standards, maintaining and monitoring programs that affect public and employee health and safety
