Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of three years of post-secondary study
Experience: Candidates should have three years related experience, one year of which should be in an academic environment with one to two years of recruiting experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have prior experience with co-op placement and emonstrate the ability to work independently and exercise judgment to seek assistance from the Employer Services Team Lead when necessary
  • The candidates should have thorough knowledge of database software (Microsoft Access) to maintain the co-op student database accurately
  • The candidates should exhibit excellent communication and interpersonal skills essential to facilitate the co-op recruitment process and effectively interact with student and employer clients
  • The candidates should demonstrate tact and diplomacy required to handle difficult situations as they arise and should be familiar with word-processing packages and email
  • The candidates should have knowledge of university structure and regulations, particularly relating to co-operative education programs (co-op admission, employment, and continuation requirements)
  • The candidates should possess excellent time management and organizational skills indispensable for this position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to report to the Employer Services Team Lead and be responsible for the full life-cycle of co-op work term recruitment activities
  • The candidates should be able to work within a designated co-operative education program portfolio to provide services to employers and students
  • The candidates should be able to advise employers on how to post jobs on CUHire or post job descriptions for the employers
  • The candidates should be able to forward resumes to the employer, schedule interviews and able to conduct follow-up on interviews and job postings with employers
  • The candidates should be able to present job offers to students, confirm placements to both employers and students and able to create and update student and employer files
  • The candidates should be able to provide employers with recommendations on which co-op programs are suitable for their positions
  • The candidates should be able to provide advice and guidance to employers throughout the recruitment process and make a referral to the program Business Development Coordinator for follow-up with new employers for the purpose of job development
  • The candidates should be able to liaise with the program Business Development Coordinator and Co-op Student Advisor to ensure that all parties are kept up to date on issues as they arise
  • The candidates should be able to liaise with the program Business Development Coordinator and Co-op Student Advisor to ensure they are current on the skill sets that the students can offer to the co-op employers
  • The candidates should be able to update the database as required with relevant information to the recruitment process and able to update reports on an as-needed and ongoing basis
