Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French and English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a university degree in journalism
Experience: Candidates should have three years of recent experience in a multiplatform newsroom
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be independent, resourceful self-starters and ability to work well in a team and remotely
- The candidates should have the ability to work a variety of shifts including early starts, late finishes, and weekends
- The candidates should have the ability to plan, organize, and coordinate day-to-day work to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure
- The candidates should have the ability to disseminate complex information to a general audience and across all platforms
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have thorough knowledge of Sudbury and provincial affairs and excellent general and current-affairs knowledge
- The candidates should have the ability to generate, pitch, and pursue strong original story ideas and good knowledge of the broadcast industry
- The candidates should possess sound editorial judgment, strong critical and analytical skills
- The candidates should have a desire to live and promote the values of diversity and an inclusive and respectful work culture
- The candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be an excellent team player and knowledge of production applications in use at CBC/Radio-Canada (TV, radio and digital) and be bilingual in French and English
- The candidates should have a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets the minimum requirements of CBC/Radio-Canada’s insurance company
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to pitch, research, write, and produce original story ideas for digital, radio, and TV programming that will engage and inform the audience, deepen community connections, and elevate a range of voices
- The candidates should be able to present information on air in a variety of formats and write scripts, continuity, and headlines
- The candidates should be able to deliver exclusive, enterprise material on a regular basis and distill large amounts of complex information under tight time constraints
- The candidates should be able to cultivate and develop working relationships with a large pool of sources and contacts
- The candidates should be able to collaborate with colleagues to develop and break stories, plan features, and coordinate long-term coverage
