Requirements:

Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Other trades certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 5 years or more
Air conditioning and refrigeration systems: Rooftop (self-contained), Air motioning and circulation, Filtration, Built up (split system), and Ventilation
Credentials: Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Trade Certification, Working at heights training, Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, and Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be physically capable of handling demanding tasks and able to bend, crouch, and kneel as needed
- The candidates should demonstrate attention to detail and possess manual dexterity

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to measure and lay out reference points for installation and assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components
- The candidates should be able to coach and instruct apprentices and measure, cut, and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment
- The candidates should be able to provide customer service and start up the system and test for leaks using testing devices
- The candidates should be able to perform maintenance tasks such as recharging the system with refrigerant, checking and testing regulators, or calibrating the system
- The candidates should be able to install, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul entire heating, ventilation, air handling, refrigeration, and air conditioning systems
- The candidates should be able to handle, recover, and store refrigerants and install, maintain, and repair equipment in refrigerated trucks used to transport food or medical supplies
- The candidates should be able to repair and replace parts and components for entire refrigeration, air conditioning, ventilation, or heat pump systems
- The candidates should be able to read and interpret blueprints
