Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a post-secondary degree/diploma in business or international trade
Experience: Candidates should have 5-8 years of experience in Customs compliance, along with 2-3 years of leadership experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to oversee the physical documentation and record-keeping processes related to customs clearance
  • The candidates should collaborate with customs brokers and agencies to physically resolve any issues related to customs clearance
  • The candidates should conduct physical audits of customs documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with Canadian regulations

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should hold a mandatory Certified Customs Specialist designation, and a preferred Certified Trade Compliance Specialist designation
  • The candidates should have knowledge and experience with CTPAT & PIP requirements and be familiar with the Customs Self-Assessment (CSA) environment
  • The candidates should have prior experience in leading a small team
  • The candidates should demonstrate knowledge and experience with U.S Customs
  • The candidates should have exposure to project management

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to develop risk-mitigating policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with import and export activities
  • The candidates should be able to ensure CTC retains Customs Self-Assessment (CSA), Partners in Protection (PIP), and Customs Trade Partners Against Terrorism (CTPAT) certifications
  • The candidates should be responsible for CBSA Audits and government inquiries relating to Customs
  • The candidates should be able to be involved in the design and development of internal audits to ensure compliance with Customs regulations as well as identifying opportunities for duty reduction
  • The candidates should be able to support continuous improvement strategies for internal Customs systems
