Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a High School Diploma, or provincial equivalency and/or experience in business administration
Experience: Candidates should have experience interacting with the public in a retail and/or service environment, including sales and cash transactions, is required

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be physically fit to lift mail containers of up to 50 lb, push or pull boxes, and sort mail, and be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • The candidates should be able to work in a post office environment, involving standing, moving, and handling mail and packages
  • The candidates should be able to lift and sort mail and parcels
  • The candidates should be able to use postal equipment for processing and organizing mail

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have owned or leased premises (suitable, central, and barrier-free) available one month prior to the date of hire
  • The candidates should have knowledge of regulations, methods, and procedures for processing mail and providing postal services is essential
  • The candidates should ensure that premises are fully accessible to persons with disabilities, subject to review and approval at least one month before hire
  • The candidates bear responsibility for rent or lease charges, heating, lighting, cleaning, routine maintenance, snow removal, municipal taxes, and necessary property and liability insurance coverage

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to liaise with the local community with respect to Canada Post service and products
  • The candidates should be able to sell and promote postal products and services to the public and businesses
  • The candidates should be able to provide suitable premises in a central location within the community within 30 days should they be the successful candidate
  • The candidates should be able to administer the post office to meet retail hours of operation and delivery expectations
  • The candidates should be able to manage postal revenue, assets, and values
  • The candidates should be able to maintain records, prepare reports, and operate the post office with due diligence and efficiency
  • The candidates should be able to assist in the effective management of mail delivery routes, supervise staff, and may sort mail to postal boxes
  • The candidates should be able to ensure the post office is neat and presentable, maintaining cleanliness in accordance with Canada Post’s standards
