Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Graduation from an approved/recognized post-secondary nursing education program with a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience within the last five working in an adult medical-surgical and/or pediatric clinical practice area

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should constantly move/lift up to 10 lbs., regularly move/lift up to 25 lbs., and occasionally be required to restrain/reposition/move/lift up to 30 lbs. They should be capable of pushing/pulling with up to medium force
  • The candidates should constantly stand/walk and be able to work in awkward or cramped positions to assist with procedures
  • The candidates should constantly use fine finger/precision, auditory, sensory, and visual concentration to provide and conduct risk assessments, observe/monitor patients, complete documents, follow directions, and administer medications
  • The candidates should be subject to time pressures/deadlines and lack of control over work pace

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a current and continuing practicing license with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL)
  • The candidates should have at least one year of experience either as a teacher of entry-level or formal post-basic nursing education programs, or three years of experience working as a nursing instructor teaching nursing students
  • The candidates should have experience coordinating student clinical placements, or experience working in a role responsible for coordinating programs or services with multiple stakeholders including external partners
  • The candidates should demonstrate knowledge of instructional development, delivery, and evaluation, as well as demonstrated clinical expertise
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to provide strong and comprehensive clinical support, training, and mentorship to students
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills as demonstrated by presentations, facilitations, and report-writing
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to be self-motivated and able to work both collaboratively and with a high degree of independence and initiative
  • The candidates should demonstrate effective time-management skills and the ability to prioritize and should possess proven leadership skills
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and a satisfactory record of work performance

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to obtain clinical placements and preceptors for nursing students and should be able to utilize HSPnet to coordinate clinical placements and preceptors
  • The candidates should be able to work collaboratively with clinical placement coordinators at other sites of nursing programs
  • The candidates should be able to recommend and monitor student funding for clinical placements and should be able to collaborate with health care organizations and Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services to develop and obtain clinical placement agreements/contracts
  • The candidates should be able to provide in-services related to student placements to nurses and preceptors at clinical sites in collaboration with other faculty members
  • The candidates should be able to engage in some travel within the province as required and should be able to participate in the clinical and lab teaching and evaluation of students as needed
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to faculty development and participate in relevant committees and able to demonstrate a commitment to evidence-informed practice
