Sea watch Inc based in Deer Lake, NL is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Fishery guardian. Sea watch Inc provide trained professional Fisheries Observers to the Department of Fisheries and Oceans for domestic and foreign fisheries taking place in waters around Newfoundland and Labrador. We are designated by DFO as an At-Sea Fisheries Observer supplier. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Location: Deer Lake, NL
Transportation information: Own transportation, Own vehicle, Travel expenses paid by employer, Valid driver’s license, and Willing to travel regularly
Work setting: Various locations, Remote location

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Area of specialization: Renewable resources, Enforcement
Credentials: Conservation Officer Training Course, Conservation Enforcement Course, and Fish and Game Legislation Course
Security and safety: Enhanced reliability security clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be comfortable working outdoors
  • The candidates should be able to work under pressure
  • The candidates should have attention to detail
  • The candidates should be comfortable with walking
  • The candidates should be physically fit for demanding tasks

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess efficient interpersonal skills and demonstrate excellent oral communication
  • The candidates should be flexible, demonstrate good judgment, and be organized
  • The candidates should exhibit reliability and be a team player

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position
