Momentum Childcare is a nurturing childcare center committed to fostering early childhood development. With a dedicated team of qualified educators, our center focuses on creating a foundation for lifelong learning through play, social interaction, and structured activities. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Salary: $23.00 to $27.00 hourly (To be negotiated) for 20 hours per week
Employment Type: Term or contract Part time
Location: Cranbrook, BC
Work setting: Child care centre

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 7 months to less than 1 year
Credentials: Child development assistant (ECE level 1), Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, and First Aid Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check and Immunization records

  • The candidates should demonstrate punctuality and exhibit dependability
  • The candidates should possess efficient interpersonal skills, have excellent oral and written communication, and showcase creativity
  • The candidates should demonstrate flexibility, interpersonal awareness, and exercise judgment
  • The candidates should be reliable, be a team player, uphold values and ethics, and have the ability to multitask

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children, providing opportunities for creativity through art, play, music, and physical activity
  • The candidates should be able to engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts, as well as lead activities such as storytelling, teaching songs, and outings to local points of interest
  • The candidates should be able to support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote children’s development and assist in record-keeping, submitting written observations, and discussing progress or problems at staff meetings
  • The candidates should be able to guide and assist children in developing proper habits, maintain daycare equipment, and help with housekeeping and cooking duties
  • The candidates should be able to prepare snacks, arrange rooms for lunch and rest periods, and assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children, discussing progress or problems with parents and staff
  • The candidates should be able to have knowledge of licensing regulations, establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers, and plan and maintain an environment ensuring the health, security, and well-being of children
  • The candidates should be able to plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
