Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Student status: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years, and full-time enrollment
Credentials: Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate and First Aid Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be proficient in handling repetitive tasks and demonstrate attention to detail
- The candidates should be prepared for physically demanding work, including bending, crouching, kneeling, and a combination of sitting, standing, and walking
- The candidates should possess manual dexterity for tasks as required

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
- The candidates should be able to engage in storytelling activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest
- The candidates should be able to support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children, as well as assist in keeping records
- The candidates should be able to engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, preparing crafts, and providing opportunities for creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
- The candidates should be able to guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits, while also maintaining daycare equipment and assisting in housekeeping and cooking duties
- The candidates should be able to prepare snacks, arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods, and observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems, preparing reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors
- The candidates should have knowledge of the Day Nurseries Act, licensing regulations, and be able to establish guidelines for behavior
- The candidates should be able to assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children, discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members, and attend staff meetings for further discussion
- The candidates should be able to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children, as well as plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
- The candidates should be able to plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours, and supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
