Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have recognized and accredited post-secondary degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or related discipline
Experience: Candidates should have experience supervising mandated clients; i.e. offenders, motivating resistant clients to modify behaviors
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be willing to travel within the Yukon 3-5 times a year and within other jurisdictions within Canada 2-3 times a year
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have experience in offender case management, including meeting clients and collateral interviews, conducting risk assessments, developing case plans, preparing court reports, progress reports, and termination summaries
- The candidates should have experience working in a cross-cultural, high needs, high-risk environment and have experience working with offender-specific risk assessments in case management and possess knowledge of the criminal justice system and correctional best practices
- The candidates should have knowledge of risk/needs assessments in case management and knowledge of mental health, substance abuse, and/or cognitive impairments and have knowledge and/or training in individual and group facilitation
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to case manage a diverse caseload and conduct research, analyze information, and write reports effectively
- The candidates should have the ability to facilitate programming and work independently as well as part of a team
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to make sound decisions and problem-solve and have the ability to provide case management and supervision in a cross-cultural environment and knowledge of Yukon First Nations
- The candidates should have the ability to work with individuals who have experienced trauma and must have security clearance, including Vulnerable Sector screening
- The candidates should possess a valid Yukon Class 5 driver’s licence
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to report and assist the court in the sentencing and supervision of persons under court orders
- The candidates should be able to act as an agent of change in case managing the rehabilitation of offenders, undertaking tasks relevant to correctional best practices
- The candidates should be able to facilitate evidence-based programming, undertake validated risk assessments, motivate offenders, and make referrals to other agencies and services to address offender’s criminal behavior
- The candidates should be able to work closely with case managers and clients at the correctional facility and oversee inmate transitions to community supervision
