Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have two years of experience in the relevant field

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a minimum of a Class III license with air brake endorsement and possess reading and writing skills to understand department documentation and complete daily logs, inspection reports
  • The candidates should have completed a professional driving course from a recognized truck driving training facility
  • The candidates should have knowledge of hydraulic systems and possess mechanical skills
  • The candidates should have completed training at any accredited heavy or commercial equipment training institute
  • The candidates should have previous experience driving a manual transmission, operating trucks with salt and plow equipment, and knowledge of salt spreading systems

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to operate snow removal equipment such as snowplows, graders, and loaders
  • The candidates should be able to perform general maintenance of the equipment, including pre-and-post trip inspections and daily logs
  • The candidates should be able to maintain signs and perform road surface repairs and traffic control
