Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Veterinary Medical degree
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of 5 years of experience as a Licensed Veterinarian working in a veterinary practice, animal control or humane society with focus primarily on cats and dogs and a high surgical volume

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be a licensed Veterinarian current with the College of Veterinarians of Ontario
  • The candidates should have a working knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation and regulations of the College of Veterinarians of Ontario
  • The candidates should demonstrate proper care and handling of animals
  • The candidates must be familiar with all applicable health and safety legislation, possess knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health or safety in the workplace, and understand appropriate actions to ensure the health and safety of staff in accordance with applicable legislation and City policies and procedures
  • The candidates should possess demonstrated skills in leadership, decision making, and problem solving
  • The candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • The candidates should have the ability to work cooperatively with members of the public and stakeholders in the community
  • The candidates should possess computer skills and experience using relevant software applications such as SAP, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Avimark
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to conduct research, analyze data, prepare concise reports, and maintain records
  • The candidates should be able to deal with emergency situations as they arise and do so within the parameters specified by the College of Veterinarians of Ontario
  • The candidates should possess and demonstrate sensitivity to the needs and concerns of pet owners presenting at the clinic
  • The candidates should have the ability to create and maintain a positive, cooperative, and supportive team environment for staff
  • The candidates should lead by example, promote a safe work environment with a culture of trust, mutual respect, and cooperation

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to oversee the performance of surgical operations at the Spay/Neuter Clinic, including ensuring the examination of every animal that has an appointment at the clinic for surgery
  • The candidates should be able to oversee the clinic’s medical staff and the Spay/Neuter Clinic operations and services, including preoperative examination and postoperative evaluation prior to returning the animal to the owner
