Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of six years of continued progress and a proven record in track work
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate capability to understand and apply relevant track standards and practice circulars
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work safely and have a clean safety or performance record
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have including at least two of the following, Five years working in Basic Track Maintenance, preferably as a Track Maintenance Foreman and Two years of work in Basic Track Maintenance in a main terminal area and Two years working as a Supervisor or Foreman of a large work crew and One or two years as a Machine Operator on various track machines, which would be beneficial
- The candidates should have a valid driver’s license and people leadership skills
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to ensure the application of CPKC safety practices, policies, and procedures by unionized employees
- The candidates should be able to deliver regulatory compliance for the respective geographic territory, including Sudbury, to ensure safe and compliant infrastructure is maintained
- The candidates should be able to inspect track at required intervals, maintain proper records of the inspections, and note and track corrective actions for exceptions
- The candidates should be able to set work priorities and objectives on a daily basis and make recommendations to the Roadmaster
- The candidates should be able to ensure that all maintenance performed on the assigned territory complies with current standards, confirm that the track is safe for authorized train speeds or protected accordingly, and organize and supervise the selective renewal of various track components
- The candidates should be able to provide on-call support and response on a rotating cycle for incidents and emergencies to support 24/7 operations
- The candidates should be able to execute work in a manner consistent with the labour agreement track
