Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English, French or Bilingual Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualification such as High School Student – Grade 10 minimum
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Physical Requirements:
- The candidate should be physically fit
- The candidate should be able to be in a proper attire and footwear also be capable of safe lifting techniques
Other Requirements:
- The candidate having Current National Lifeguard Pool certificate, Current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certificate, Current Oxygen Therapy or LSS Airway Management certificate, Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates, AODA Accessibility/IASR Training and Current Lifesaving Instructor certificate is an asset
- The candidate should have the knowledge of City of Ottawa and Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services departmental policies, guidelines and directives and also have the knowledge of City of Ottawa emergency response procedures
- The candidate should be able to maintain a fun and safe environment and also have an excellent interpersonal communication, leadership and programming skills
- The candidate should have good organization skills also have sound judgment in difficult situations
- The candidate should have emergency response skills and knowledge of specialized lifesaving equipment
- The candidate should be able to handle the stress of an emergency situation and react appropriately
- The candidate must be able to relate to children and be a good role model and also must be tactful, kind and patient
- The candidate must be calm under pressure and also must be creative and resourceful
- The candidate must be reliable and trustworthy and also must be flexible and enthusiastic
- The candidate must have good written and verbal communication skills and also be able to follow verbal and/or written directions/procedures.
- The candidate must be able to work well in a team environment and also be able to enjoy working with the public.
- The candidate should be able to provide a police record check
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be responsible for the day-to-day operation of facilities and service delivery for recreation venues and programs, parks & recreation policies, and programs for cultural services also be able to ensure the operations, processes and services are customer-centric and efficient
- The candidate should be able to deliver community recreation programs through geographically aligned areas across the City, aquatic, sport and physical activity programming for all ages, as well as programming to address the needs of individuals with disabilities and population segments who may experience barriers to access recreation services and also be responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons using aquatic facilities
- The candidate should be able to monitor the conduct of patrons, prevent accidents and respond to emergencies by administering the policies, procedures, rules and regulations of the City of Ottawa and of certifying bodies to ensure the safety and enjoyment of patrons in an aquatic environment.
- The candidate should be able to work in a team setting or independently
