Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have bachelor’s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have minimum two years experience leading the coordination and delivery of multiple sport programs in a college or university environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be strongly knowledgeable and have proven expertise in the continuum of sport programs including competitive, intramural, instructional, and drop-in
  • The candidates should have experience supervising casual/student staff and coaches
  • The candidates should have experience planning and managing sport/recreation events and special events for diverse populations
  • The candidates should have the ability to engage and address equity, diversity, and inclusion issues in sport
  • The candidates should have a strong understanding of relevant protocols or policies (campus policies, sport rules, relevant legislation)
  • The candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Office, with an understanding of social media, and have experience using sport/recreation databases (Fusion, IMLeagues, etc.)
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment
  • The candidates should possess strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • The candidates should have strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • The candidates should demonstrate effective leadership skills to lead teams of student staff
  • The candidates should demonstrate conflict resolution skills
  • The candidates should have familiarity with social media platforms such as Snapchat, Instagram, etc.
  • The candidates should hold First Aid/CPR AED certification
  • The candidates should have experience coaching or working with coaches

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to assist the Supervisor with the continuum of sport offerings including competitive, intramural, instructional, and drop-in as the incumbent in the Department of Recreation, Athletics & Wellness
  • The candidates should be able to lead the coordination, planning, logistics, delivery, and evaluation of sport programs with a focus on student experience
  • The candidates should be able to introduce new sport options
  • The candidates should be able to oversee the training and work of casual/student staff in the unit
  • The candidates should be able to work variable shifts depending on the program needs and scheduling, which will include some evenings and weekend hours
  • The candidates should be able to oversee day-to-day operational needs and service delivery requirements of sport programs
  • The candidates should be able to implement plans and process improvements for program activities
  • The candidates should be able to stay well-informed on innovations in sport and recreational programs
  • The candidates should be able to determine logistical details and activities for events and/or programming
  • The candidates should be able to disseminate event-related information
  • The candidates should be able to foster cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate the recruitment process and training of student staff
  • The candidates should be able to direct the activities of casual staff
