Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have bachelor’s Degree or an acceptable combination of recent and equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have minimum two years of experience working in a live-in, on-call residence life context in a post-secondary setting

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience developing and facilitating training and programming, and preparing accompanying resources for students, student leaders, and/or student-staff
  • The candidates should possess experience advising and collaborating successfully with student leaders and/or groups
  • The candidates should demonstrate a student-centered, developmental approach to working with students, integrating principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • The candidates should have experience investigating and adjudicating alleged violations of residence policy
  • The candidates should show a demonstrated ability to lead, train, coach, and motivate student-staff and volunteers
  • The candidates should exhibit demonstrated experience with event planning, risk assessment, and financial management
  • The candidates should showcase an ability to organize work, establish priorities, and meet deadlines while negotiating unpredictable emergent needs. A high degree of flexibility and adaptability is required
  • The candidates should have the ability to exercise tact and sound judgment in dealing with others and difficult issues
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to solve problems in accordance with established procedures while under pressure
  • The candidates should display a demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and achieve established goals
  • The candidates should possess intermediate skills with Microsoft Office 365 tools (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint). Proficiency with Microsoft Power Automate is a significant asset
  • The candidates should have intermediate skills using MailChimp and social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok) for student communications and outreach purposes
  • The candidates should have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • The candidates should have familiarity with Innis College and the University of Toronto as an asset.
  • The candidates should be adaptable, communicators, multi-taskers, organized, resilient and resourceful

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to implement plans and process improvements for program and service activities
  • The candidate should be able to determine logistical details and activities for events and/or programming
  • The candidate should be able to advise students on personal and academic issues by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences
  • The candidate should be able to determine appropriate disciplinary actions for breaches of community standards and/or housing policies
  • The candidate should be able to apply established standards when responding to emergencies
  • The candidate should be able to provide proactive support to individuals in distress and make referrals to specific university services
  • The candidate should be able to direct the activities of casual staff
  • The candidate should be able to train and coach student life staff and student leaders
