Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of 2-year diploma in Human Resource Management, Accounting and Finance
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in payroll with exposure to large business information systems PeopleSoft

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should hold a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation from the Canadian Payroll Association or be working towards the designation
  • The candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and have advanced Excel skills, including experience using macros
  • The candidates should consider experience with accounting principles, mathematical calculations, and general ledger distributions

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to ensure all part-time employment contracts and information received in payroll are correctly completed, signed, and authorized before processing
  • The candidates should be able to bi-weekly collect, consolidate, format, and upload the electronic data to PeopleSoft, including regular hours for part-time employees and various earnings for full-time employees
  • The candidates should be able to perform a variety of data integrity checks using advanced Excel functions such as MACRO and VLOOKUP and ensure overtime is paid according to the appropriate rules per employee group Employment Standards or Collective Agreement regulations
  • The candidates should be able to identify, investigate, and correct all variances to allow for a successful upload to PeopleSoft HR and enter payroll transactions and PeopleSoft Job Data records to ensure accurate and timely remuneration of wages for all Sheridan employees and non-employee payments
  • The candidates should be able to use Service Canada’s ROE WEB software to report insurable hours and earnings online for all employee types and support the Payroll function during peak processing periods and vacation coverage
  • The candidates should be able to perform audits and controls using the Time & Labor Module of PeopleSoft HR for electronic timesheet consolidation and accurate entry for part-time hourly employees and full-time overtime hours
  • The candidates should be able to calculate and audit overtime reporting to ensure completeness and compliance with the Employment Standards Act (ESA) and Collective Agreements
  • The candidates should be able to set up all Academic Non-Teaching special payments and other non-employee special payments, including those in foreign currency, into PeopleSoft HR
  • The candidates should be able to upload and balance all information, process Records of Employment (ROEs) electronically with Service Canada, and communicate procedural and ROE legislative requirements to employees
  • The candidates should be able to support the Payroll Associate with pay-related responsibilities during peak periods and assist with bi-weekly pay processing activities while adhering to strict deadlines and perform other related duties
