Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program with related experience
  • The candidates should be active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT)

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to coordinate occupational therapy and allied health clinical services within a program or service area and supervise students and team members
  • The candidates should be able to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals
  • The candidates should be able to make clinical decisions on patient and family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge, and follow-up
  • The candidates should be able to advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and effective client care
  • The candidates should be able to ensure occupational therapy practices are evidence-based and comply with Alberta legislation, professional standards, codes of ethics, and AHS policy and guidelines
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitor care delivery while identifying service
  • The candidates should be able to assist medical staff with caseload management, complete chart audits, and provide feedback to staff
  • The candidates should be able to participate in program development, operational planning, and represent the department on committees or programs
  • The candidates should be able to make decisions on staffing levels, workflow, and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers
  • The candidates should be able to carry out the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator, and advocate in the program or service area
