Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Personal Care Aide (PCA) certificate recognized from a Canadian Educational Institute
Experience: Candidates should have recent experience charting and documenting progress notes
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have undergone TB screening
- The candidates should be prepared for shift work
- The candidates should be aware of potential exposure to flowers, plants, and/or second-hand smoke
- The candidates should be aware of potential exposure to animals
- The candidates should be prepared for heavy lifting and bending
- The candidates should be aware of potential exposure to latex products and other irritants
- The candidates should be prepared for exposure to weather while assisting residents outside
- The candidates should be able to lift up to 50 lbs as part of resident care and transfers
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- The candidates should have the ability to contribute to a Respectful Workplace
- The candidates should possess good conflict resolution skills
- The candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to providing a safe, respectful, and home-like environment for residents
- The candidates should have the ability to work constructively within a transdisciplinary team and equally able to work independently
- The candidates should have the ability to provide ongoing assistance to long-term care residents (children, adults, and seniors) in the activities of daily living
- The candidates should possess a Vulnerable Sector RCMP Security Clearance and hold a Food Safe Level 1 certificate obtained within the last 18 months
- The candidates should have WHMIS 2015 certification and possess an HCA, PSW, CCA, or PCA certificate
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to be part of a collaborative and supportive team environment
- The candidates should be able to report to the Nurse Supervisor and assist the nursing team in providing direct care to residents (children, adults, seniors) to help meet their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs
- The candidates should be able to participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care plans
