Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed post-secondary degree/diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Technology, Construction Management or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Experience: Candidates should have minimum seven (7) years’ professional experience with capital project planning / scheduling in the AEC environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a broad knowledge of the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) field and bring their experience and technical knowledge to bear on their assigned duties
  • The candidates should review, analyze, and assess the schedule information made available for active projects, providing advice, input, and recommendations with respect to schedule projections and risks
  • This review should include consideration of project-specific influences such as stated project programs and budgets, understood feasibility, design complexity, and project phasing
  • The candidates should extract critical data points that will feed into other project or cost tracking mechanisms
  • The candidates should think critically, organize, plan, problem solve, and execute their duties with an independence that will increase over time
  • The candidates should provide support to the Director by undertaking special assigned tasks that will support broader University-wide and UPDC activities or initiatives
  • The candidates should have formal Project Management training and/or certification, which is considered an asset
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of construction techniques and the analysis of architecture, landscape architecture, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering documents
  • The candidates should be evident of the primary methods of project delivery and their schedule impacts on projects, as well as costing and procurement processes
  • The candidates should have proficiency in the use of standard office applications such as Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat
  • The candidates should possess proficiency with Oracle Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project software is expected from the candidates
  • The candidates should have a working knowledge of LPS tools such as Mural or Miro is considered an asset
  • The candidate should demonstrate the ability to discern and leverage the individual benefits of CPM and LPS scheduling methodologies
  • The candidate should have familiarity with industry-standard project schedule formats.
  • The candidate should possess highly developed initiative with the ability to work independently or as a member of a committee or project team
  • The candidate should demonstrate a collaborative mindset with keen facilitation skills
  • The candidate should have excellent judgment, analytical, and problem-solving skills to critically analyze capital project plans and documents
  • The candidate should showcase demonstrated planning, coordination, and organizational skills to conduct reviews of project documentation
  • The candidate should have superior oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • The candidate should have to exercise patience, tact, diplomacy, and discretion
  • The candidate should be evident to work effectively in a consultative team environment
  • The candidate should have a proven experience should be evident with managing multiple duties concurrently with frequently changing priorities and deadlines, always with a results-oriented focus
  • The candidate should exhibit strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • The candidate should have to work effectively with clients and staff at all levels
  • The candidate should have a valid Ontario Class ‘G’ driver’s license is required for travel between University Campuses and/or to consultant/supplier offices, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to serve as the primary point of contact for UPDC’s production of project plans/schedules and review project schedules produced by external parties for all active projects within the UPDC group
  • The candidate should be able to Manage projects with values generally ranging from $1 million to $250 million, including those that may well exceed this range
  • The candidate should be able to Oversee projects of various types, including institutional (academic/research), student residential, mixed-use, utility infrastructure, landscape, and other categories
  • The candidate should be able to Work collaboratively with other UPDC departments, including University Planning (UP), Project Development (PD), and Project Management (PM)
  • The candidate should be able to Handle a dynamic workload, managing over 100 projects at various stages of development, documentation, or execution at any given time
  • The candidate should be able to Apply expertise in project scheduling to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with project objectives
  • The candidate should be able to Coordinate with external parties to ensure the timely production and review of project plans and schedules
  • The candidate should be able to Provide valuable insights and recommendations to enhance project schedules, considering factors such as project programs, budgets, feasibility, design complexity, and project phasing
  • The candidate should be able to Demonstrate strong organizational and planning skills to navigate the complexities of project scheduling and execution within the UPDC group
