Requirements:

Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Area of specialization: Medical unit, Palliative care, Surgery, Float
Credentials: Eligible for licensure as a practical nurse by the province/territory of work, Intravenous (IV) therapy Certification, Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check, Child Abuse Registry check, Immunization records, Adult Abuse Registry check
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should excel in a fast-paced environment and be able to work effectively under pressure
- The candidates should be capable of handling repetitive tasks efficiently and be physically fit to manage demanding tasks

- The candidates should have the ability to distinguish between colors and have sound discrimination skills
- The candidates should be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking and be able to stand for extended periods if required

Candidate Status:
- Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
- Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to administer medication and observe and document therapeutic effects accurately
- The candidates should be able to take vital signs, apply aseptic techniques including sterile dressing, ensure infection control, monitor nutritional intake, and conduct specimen collection proficiently
- The candidates should be able to provide pre-operative and post-operative personal and comfort care compassionately and provide safety and health education to individuals and their families effectively
- The candidates should be able to provide nursing services, within the defined scope of practice, to patients based on patient assessment and care planning procedures competently
- The candidates should be able to monitor patients’ progress, evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions, and consult with appropriate members of the healthcare team appropriately
