Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Bachelor’s degree or higher degree in athletic training, ergonomic, kinesiology, or related field
Experience: Candidates should have experience in an Injury Prevention Specialist, Athletic Trainer, or related role
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have experience using Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional capacity
- The candidates should have experience maintaining confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues in the workplace. Knowledge of WSIB/WorkSafe BC and/or OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910
- The candidates should have an interest in WHS or safety
- The candidates should possess strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer focus skills
- The candidates should have the ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and possible solutions for potential safety concerns and conduct job hazard and job safety analyses
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to identify and inform management of compliance issues, safety risks, and improvement opportunities through the conduct of daily, weekly & monthly audits across a defined set of sites
- The candidates should be able to participate in the incident investigation process, especially those related to MSDs injuries and evaluate trends in soft tissue injuries and develop action items to address injury trends
- The candidates should be able to minimize the risk of injury to employees through awareness, education, and intervention and attend and participate in “start-up” meetings to lead daily stretching routines
- The candidates should be able to spend frequent “floor time” interacting with both associates and managers, providing coaching on observed at-risk work habits
- The candidates should be able to understand and learn each department and job function within the warehouse to fully understand the body mechanics involved in every task
- The candidates should be able to be actively involved with improvements to the standard work process and maintain required paperwork to comply with Amazon standards
- The candidates should be able to enter Safety Incident Information in the metrics database in a timely manner and provide (or facilitate access to) immediate aid for associates, visitors, vendors, or guests that need assistance or medical attention
- The candidates should be able to train and assist others (Area Managers, Safety Team Members) in completing their Safety responsibilities (Audits, Follow Safety Rules)
- The candidates should be able to communicate health and safety needs to all levels of the organization and produce ergonomic risk assessment reports, provide suggestions on control measures, and have the ability to drive change
- The candidates should be able to maintain a calm demeanor in emergency situations, proactively analyze tasks for potential ergonomic and safety issues and perform biomechanical and ergonomic assessments, as well as execute other Amazon injury prevention activities
- The candidates should be able to provide conservative care and first aid Level One treatment to injured Associates and educate Associates on ways to perform their tasks effectively without undue stress or strain on the body
- The candidates should be able to support management’s efforts to ensure compliance with all corporate EHS program expectations and applicable federal and state law and conduct risk assessments related to jobs performed (Job Hazard Analysis) and new equipment introductions
- The candidates should be able to recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures to Management, including ergonomic considerations, in all such efforts
