Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a High School diploma
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years of experience in the trade

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be eligible to work in the country of interest at the time any offer of employment is made and are responsible for obtaining any required work permits or visas or other authorizations

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have knowledge of drive-trains, diesel and gasoline engines, propane fuel systems, complex electrical and hydraulic systems, and metal fabrication and welding
  • The candidates should be able to read and understand various schematic diagrams for maintenance troubleshooting and be proficient with computers and diagnostic tools
  • The candidates should be “team players” with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to maintain a customer-focused attitude in a demanding, high-stress environment
  • The candidates should have 310S, 310T, OR Red Seal certification and a valid Automotive Service Technician, Commercial Transport Mechanic, or Heavy Duty Mechanic trades certification
  • The candidates should have Inter-Provincial Red Seal certification and successfully pass the pre-employment qualifying exam
  • The candidates should meet Air Canada medical standards, which include passing a medical evaluation and drug and alcohol test
  • The candidates should be able to obtain and maintain any applicable transportation security clearances and additional authorizations, as detailed on the Transport Canada site
  • The candidates should have Advanced Fuel Injection and Diesel Engine Tune-Up certificates or licenses
  • The candidates should have Air Conditioning and Refrigeration certificates or licenses and Propane Fuel Systems certificates or licenses and Automotive Inspection certificates or licenses and a current security clearance
  • The candidates should have previous experience maintaining mobile ground power (generators), air conditioners (up to 110 ton), air start units (compressors up to 250 cfm), or similar experience in farm or heavy industrial equipment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform routine maintenance and repairs on ground support equipment (GSE), including tugs, belt loaders, and aircraft servicing vehicles, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently
  • The candidates should be able to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on GSE, utilizing specialized tools and equipment to identify problems and implement effective solutions
  • The candidates should be able to conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance tasks on GSE, adhering to manufacturer guidelines and Air Canada standards to ensure all equipment meets operational and safety requirements
