Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of fitness Instructor Certification
Experience: Candidates should have 1 or more years of aqua fitness instructor work experience
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to perform aerobic and strength movements for the duration of a class, both in and out of the water. This includes activities such as standing, walking, jumping, balancing, kneeling, reaching, bending, and lifting
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a minimum of one of the following Certifications: Fitness Instructor Certification, Canadian Aqua Fitness Leaders Alliance (CALA), AQX Aqua Fitness, or another nationally recognized aquatic fitness certification
- The candidates should have a current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C Certificate
- The candidates should have a Criminal Reference Check for Employment with a Vulnerable Sector Check (dated within the last three months) is required for approval by the Corporation prior to commencing employment
- The candidates should be able to possess excellent communication and customer service skills
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to consistently deliver high-quality group aquatic fitness instruction
- The candidates should be able to create engaging, educational, and fun classes that promote fitness, wellness, and positive self-esteem
- The candidates should be able to come prepared to each class with a lesson plan and appropriate music
- The candidates should be able to observe participants’ form and needs, providing ongoing modifications for safety and success
- The candidates should be able to build positive relationships with members to foster a sense of community and encourage class attendance
- The candidates should be able to engage in conversations with members before and after classes, actively listening, answering questions, and promoting programs and services
- The candidates should be able to maintain cleanliness in the facility by properly cleaning up after classes and promptly reporting any issues
- The candidates should be able to fulfill all requirements to maintain their certifications and participate in regular scheduled staff training sessions
- The candidates should be able to available to work part-time hours during daytime, evenings, and weekend
- The candidates should be able to aware that instructors receive a $2.00 per hour premium for instructing classes
