Kiwi Childcare Centre based in Surrey, BC is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Early childhood educator (ECE) assistant. Kiwi Childcare Centre provides a nurturing and educational environment for children. Our programs are designed to meet the specific developmental needs of each age group and provide appropriate activities, routines, and learning opportunities. Salary: $20.00 to $26.00 hourly (to be negotiated) 30 to 40 hours per week

Shifts: Day, Overtime, On Call, Flexible Hours, Early Morning

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience, training will be provided
Credentials: Child development assistant (ECE level 1), First Aid Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check, Medical exam, Tuberculosis test

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should be punctual, flexible, and reliable
  • The candidates should have excellent oral communication, interpersonal awareness, efficient interpersonal skills, and be able to work as a team player

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorized (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers, storytelling, lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest
  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children, assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
  • The candidates should be able to support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children, engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
  • The candidates should be able to provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity, guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits, establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • The candidates should be able to maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties, prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods, discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings
  • The candidates should be able to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor, submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
  • The candidates should be able to knowledge of licensing regulations, knowledge of Day Nurseries Act, establish guidelines for behaviour, attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children, assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
