Salary: $15.00 to $19.00 hourly (to be negotiated) 35 to 40 hours per week

Work setting: Before and after school programs, Child care centre

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Credentials: Child development assistant (ECE level 1), Child development supervisor (ECE level 3), Child development worker (ECE level 2), Emergency child care first aid and CPR, Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate
Security and safety: Vulnerable sector check, Criminal record check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should be punctual, dependable, flexible, and reliable
  • The candidates should have excellent oral communication, values and ethics, and be able to work as a team player

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorized (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to bathe, diaper and feed infants and toddlers, develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children, storytelling, lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest
  • The candidates should be able to support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children, assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records, engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
  • The candidates should be able to provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity, guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits, maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties, prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
  • The candidates should be able to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor, submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors
  • The candidates should be able to discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings, knowledge of licensing regulations, establish guidelines for behaviour
  • The candidates should be able to assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members, attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
  • The candidates should be able to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children, plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children, plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
