Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a Master’s degree in business
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of senior-level leadership and management experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to provide academic leadership to faculty and staff, and to develop high-performing teams

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have another relevant field of study; a PhD and hold a post-secondary credential in a program associated with the School of Business and Hospitality or a professional designation in Business
  • The candidates should have a minimum of 13 years of related experience in increasingly responsible roles
  • The candidates should have with a preference for at least half of this time in a post-secondary educational institution
  • The candidates should have experience managing personnel in a large, unionized environment
  • The candidates should possess strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • The candidates should have superior organizational, planning, and financial management skills and possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The candidates should be skilled at negotiation and conflict resolution and demonstrate the proven ability to develop partnership linkages to achieve long-term institutional goals
  • The candidates should demonstrate a commitment to student success, teaching excellence, quality education, and applied research

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide academic and administrative leadership to Academic Chairs, Academic Managers, and staff involved in the development and delivery of courses and programs and contribute to the academic well-being of the College by participating in strategic planning and administration of academic programs and services
  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement a strategic plan for the School that aligns with the College and Academic Strategic Plans, including setting goals, outcomes, and performance measures
  • The candidates should be able to ensure the current and future educational needs of students are met through ongoing program review, including assessing equipment and lab requirements
  • The candidates should be able to determine when modifications, cancellations, or new course or program introductions are necessary, ensuring they meet community and business and ensure integration of programs with business and community organizations to provide workplace experiences for students
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to ensure programs meet evolving industry and employment and contribute to the development of college policies and procedures to meet the needs of students, staff, and community partners
  • The candidates should be able to chair cross-college committees and participate in various governance bodies and provide strategic direction for the development and delivery of international and part-time studies programs
  • The candidates should be able to ensure faculty and staff assignments are consistent with college policies and procedures, including managing performance and recruitment and effectively manage the School’s financial, human, and physical resources, including budget planning and external funding applications
  • The candidates should be able to handle serious complaints and grievances from students and staff in accordance with the Collective Agreement and ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety programs within the department
  • The candidates should be able to negotiate partnerships with public and private sectors to enhance resources and promote community ventures and develop partnerships and seek external funding or donations to support strategic initiatives within the School and College
