Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a degree in a biological sciences field of study
Experience: Candidates should have experience in managing or overseeing biodiversity information repositories
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have experience conducting species status assessments to determine threats, conservation status, inventory needs, and required conservation actions
- The candidates should demonstrate experience applying information on biodiversity values or species at risk towards environmental assessment (i.e., project planning, development assessment, threat and impact mitigations) or land use planning processes
- The candidates should have experience collaborating with multiple partners and various levels of government to further biodiversity conservation
- The candidates should have experience in interpreting and applying legislation and policies toward biodiversity assessment, listing, and recovery planning
- The candidates should possess the ability to contribute positively to team operations and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
- The candidates should also have the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders
- The candidates should have experience in integrating multiple knowledge systems into biodiversity conservation
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to support our vision and values by leading and ensuring the integrity and functionality of the Conservation Data Centre (CDC) for the Yukon
- The candidates should be able to maintain rigorous standards for data and products used to determine all wild species’ conservation status and identify areas for proactive conservation of rare and at-risk species and ecological communities in the Yukon
- The candidates should be able to ensure the integration and relevance of the CDC systems to the strategic direction of the Fish & Wildlife Branch and the department for data and product delivery
