Hours of Work: 35 hours per week

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a bachelor’s or Master’s degree in social work or related field from a recognized university
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years’ in-depth clinical experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have knowledge of different clinical approaches
  • The candidates should possess knowledge and experience of various issues and populations
  • The candidates should have knowledge of issues related to all forms of violence
  • The candidates should be in good standing with their professional association
  • The candidates should have the ability to supervise and guide staff to promote work efficiency
  • The candidates should have knowledge of developing work procedures and practices
  • The candidates should have strong skills and in-depth understanding of therapeutic intervention techniques based on best practices are required
  • The candidates should have excellent command of spoken and written French and English is necessary
  • The candidates should have knowledge and ability to use basic computer software and other specialized software such as CHMYN, EMHWARE, PS SUITE, etc.
  • The candidates should have extensive knowledge of social services in the Niagara and Hamilton regions is preferred
  • The candidates should have the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • The candidates should have good judgmental skill
  • The candidates should have the ability and sensitivity to work with a multicultural clientele
  • The candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively by telephone and in person, in a manner that avoids value judgments
  • The candidates must be a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers (OCSWSSW) or the College of Registered Psychotherapists (CRPT)
  • They must meet OPAO’s “independent practice” requirement (1,000 hours of direct client contact and 150 hours of clinical supervision)
  • The candidates must complete 30 hours of supervised clinical training. Directed learning may include coursework, supervised practice as a clinical supervisor, individual, peer, or group learning, and independent study including structured readings
  • The candidates must provide a signed statement that they understand the OPAO definitions of clinical supervision, clinical supervisor, and psychotherapy scope of practice
  • They should have a good knowledge of the requirements and obligations of both the OPAO and OTSTTSO
  • The candidates should have willingness to work flexible hours or to respond to client needs
  • The candidates should possess a valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle
  • The candidates should possess bilingual proficiency with a strong command of spoken and written French

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide clinical supervision to CSCHN practitioners involved in psychotherapy, counseling, and/or outreach work (review and recommendation of clinical notes, intervention plans, interventions)
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate individual and group supervision meetings
  • The candidates should be able to manage case discussions with CSCHN practitioners involved in psychotherapy, counseling, and/or outreach work
  • The candidates should be able to promote the integration of know-how and clinical practice
  • The candidates should be able to support personal and professional development
  • The candidates should be able to identify and participate in the elaboration and development of ethical standards of practice that respect the rules of professional conduct
  • The candidates should be able to advise CSCHN practitioners of psychotherapy, counseling, and/or approach work in the choice of relevant training, approaches, and tools
  • The candidates should be able to participate in the development of client follow-up procedures, ensuring compliance with the rules of professional ethics
  • The candidates should be able to review the content of educational and therapeutic workshops and groups
  • The candidates should be able to complete the evaluation at the end of the probation period and at each annual assessment
  • The candidates should be able to review files as required at the request of management (during annual evaluation)
  • The candidates should be able to complete OPAO documents for employee needs
  • The candidates should be able to review program evaluation tools
  • The candidates should be able to participate in a team hiring committee as required
  • The candidates should be able to supervise interns
  • The candidates should be able to participate in a therapist interview panel
