Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a High School Diploma
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to follow written and oral instructions, exercising sound judgment, organization, and discretion
  • The candidates should be able to work with minimal supervision and under tight deadlines
  • The candidates should have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have an equivalent combination of training and experience and demonstrate basic proficiency in the use of word processing software such as Word
  • The candidates should have the ability to take notes rapidly and accurately utilizing word processing software and specialized departmental systems
  • The candidates should be able to deal effectively and courteously with the public in varying circumstances while maintaining professional behavior and confidentiality at all times.
  • The candidates should have the ability to proficiently communicate verbally and in writing in both official languages (English and French) French bilingualism

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to attend panel sittings of the Board of Revision and accurately record all decisions utilizing the department’s specialized computer systems
  • The candidates should be able to provide procedural advice to the Board of Revision Members
  • The candidates should be able to prepare for panel sittings by compiling all documentation provided by the applicant and Assessment Department into an agenda format
  • The candidates should be able to provide notice of sitting dates, times, and locations, and prepare the meeting location for panel sittings
  • The candidates should be able to assist with the maintenance of the Assessment Appeals Control System (AACS)
  • The candidates should be able to prepare orders and minutes from the panel hearings, and distribute copies in accordance with legislative guidelines
  • The candidates should be able to prepare affidavits for Municipal Board appeals in accordance with guidelines set out by the Municipal Board
  • The candidates should be able to respond to telephone and written inquiries from the public and other civic departments regarding the assessment appeal process
  • The candidates should be able to perform other related duties consistent with the classification
