Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have at least a 3rd Class Power Engineering Designation
Experience: Candidates should have at least ten years working experience in a powerhouse function

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have at least five years of experience in a direct supervisory role
  • The candidates should have working knowledge of ammonia plant operations, including powerhouse support
  • The candidates should possess a working knowledge of MS Office and Excel
  • The candidates should have strong oral and written communication skills for effective communication within the team and with other stakeholders
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • The candidates should have ability to live and teach our Maple Leaf leadership values

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to maintain a positive MLF image, handle daily payroll, schedule vacations, prepare work schedules, and daily work assignments and ensure engineers follow the Operating Engineers Act and interact with Government inspectors
  • The candidates should be able to monitor boiler water testing and wastewater testing, giving instructions for necessary changes, able to read and interpret log books daily, including multiple log sheets and able to update and manage cost-saving spreadsheets
  • The candidates should be able to track utility consumptions and keep up-to-date spreadsheets, able to prepare required Conservation reports, N.P.R.I. inventories, and spill reports and able to monitor the daily WWTP Report for the City of Lethbridge
  • The candidates should be able to order required parts and supplies, monitor and maintain department parts stock levels, maintain and monitor outside service contracts and able to schedule work for engineers, with maintenance and outside services
  • The candidates should be able to maintain records of all types, track preventive maintenance tasks and work orders and ensure completion and schedule and coordinate projects, including plant inspections
  • The candidates should be able to interact with various contractors as services, give direction and lead ongoing jobs, instruct and oversee the workforce, and inspect the actual work done and inspect plant equipment, perform housekeeping duties, and monitor team progress in general
  • The candidates should be able to enforce HACCP and CFIA regulations and plant GMP’s, enforce safe work practices and Company policy and able to plan and hold safety and policy meetings, investigate accidents and incidents, collect statements, and conduct investigations regarding disciplinary issues
  • The candidates should be able to answer phone calls and emails daily about operations and various other matters, able to meet with sales and technical people on a regular basis and able to continuously strive for top performance from staff and equipment
  • The candidates should be able to help solve various plant and production problems, research new data and equipment and able to organize and schedule training for staff
