Requirements:

- The candidates should have eligibility for approval as a Child Care Centre Supervisor under the Child Care and Early Years Act 2014
- The candidates should have considerable experience supervising staff, as well as leading, coaching, motivating, and developing teams in an early learning & child care center
- The candidates should have considerable experience administering and delivering early learning and individualized child care services and programs in an inclusive environment
- The candidates should have the ability to work effectively with clients, staff, and communities that represent equity-seeking groups and diverse populations

- The candidates should have knowledge of collective agreement administration and interpretation, labor relations principles and practices, and relevant employment legislation, including human rights and occupational health and safety
- The candidates should have knowledge in preparing and administering a budget and knowledge of and the ability to demonstrate the following City core competencies including: customer service, fiscal accountability, innovation, results orientation, and teamwork
- The candidates should have computer literacy utilizing relevant software applications, such as MS Office and have good analytical, organizational, and time management skills
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to provide leadership and daily administration of an early learning and child care centre and/or program, following City of Toronto’s policies and government licensing standards
- The candidates should be able to deliver inclusive high-quality early learning and child care services for children aged birth to 4 years and able to ensure that programs/services meet all legislated and regulatory requirements, Council approved directions, and program quality standards
- The candidates should be able to supervise the planning and delivery of a developmentally appropriate curriculum for all children in the center and able to lead and support the implementation of a play-based curriculum model reflective of the Ontario Early Years Policy Framework
- The candidates should be able to lead staff teams and supervise assigned staff, including monitoring and evaluating staff performance, assigning and scheduling work, overseeing attendance management, approving salary increments, issuing discipline, and managing grievances
- The candidates should be able to utilize an equity lens to effectively build a high-quality early learning environment that is responsive to the changing needs of clients and staff from equity-seeking groups and diverse populations
- The candidates should be able to promote effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, and continuous learning and able to encourage innovation in others
- The candidates should be able to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all children and staff in the center(s), ensuring that centers/programs are in compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures related to health and safety
- The candidates should be able to manage the resolution of service delivery issues, including the reporting/follow-up of center-based Serious Occurrences as outlined in legislation and able to provide input into and administer assigned budget, ensuring that expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations
- The candidates should be able to plan and implement parent involvement and engagement, which may include parent advisory committees, information sessions, and workshops
- The candidates should be able to work with external agencies, services, and resources including local community agencies working in the child and family sector to provide integrated seamless programs that improve outcomes for children and families
- The candidates should be able to liaise with and provide information to a variety of professional groups, elected officials, government bodies, and academic institutions and able to manage center emergency situations and ensure that the most current COVID-related policies and Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) procedures are adhered to
- The candidates should be able to lead, support, and implement change reflective of the City of Toronto’s Action plan to Confront Anti-Black Racism and able to participate in Unit and Divisional workgroups, as required
