Government of Nunavut’s Department of Justice based in Iqaluit, NU is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Capital planner and special projects coordinator. Government of Nunavut’s Department of Justice oversees legal and justice-related matters within the territory. It administers courts, corrections, and public safety initiatives. Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the Inuktut, English or French Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a recognized university degree in architecture, commerce, project management, engineering, or related field
Experience: Candidates should have at least two (2) years’ experience in capital planning or related field

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience in managing capital budget projects
  • The candidates should be fluent in two or more of Nunavut’s official languages
  • The candidates should have knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment
  • The candidates should have acceptable combinations of education and experience

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to oversee capital project planning, project management, and stakeholder consultations for all Justice facilities
  • The candidates should be able to report to the Director of Corporate Services and engage in direct briefings and meetings with the Deputy Minister, Minister, and other Members of the Legislative Assembly as required
  • The candidates should be able to appear in Standing Committees and at the Legislative Assembly to provide necessary information and updates
  • The candidates should be able to manage capital budgets ranging from more than one million dollars associated with minor capital planning, and up to fifty million dollars depending on the scope of the projects
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with program and technical personnel, as well as the public, to develop effective capital planning, programming, and management systems for the Department of Justice
