Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: The candidates should have a completed Journeyman Certificate as an Auto Body Technician (which includes all three certificates: Prepper, Refinisher, and Repair), as recognized by the Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board; or an equivalent Red Seal
Experience: Candidates should have training or experience in woodworking, welding, upholstering, and/or frame and wheel alignment
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have the ability to lift 20 kg (45 lbs) on a regular basis
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be committed to creating a safe work environment
- The candidates should work well individually and within a team
- The candidates should be able to interpret and apply information from vehicle manuals
- The candidates should possess sound judgment and problem-solving skills
- The candidates should be mechanically inclined
- The candidates should enjoy learning new skills and using current skills in their everyday work
- The candidates should possess a valid class 5 driver’s license (or provincial equivalent), with no more than six demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending
- The candidates should consider a valid Q endorsement as an asset; all successful applicants must be able to obtain a Q endorsement within two months of employment
- The candidates should have the ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator’s permit
- The candidates should demonstrate sound judgment in safety standards
- The candidates should possess well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
- The candidates should have excellent technical proficiency
- The candidates should meet high work standards and demonstrate initiative
- The candidates should exhibit strong planning and organizational skills
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to work on the interiors and exteriors of our buses and CTrain light rail vehicles to ensure they’re maintained to our high standards
- The candidates should be able to design, build, repair, modify, paint, refinish, and adjust all types of wooden and metal automotive bodies, including trucks, buses, automobiles, auxiliary units, and accessories
- The candidates should be able to perform related body shop tasks, such as prepping, welding, spray painting, body repair, and parts replacement
