Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have certificate, Degree or Diploma in Business Administration or Public Administration, or related education and experience
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be capable of working with minimal supervision and efficiently prioritize their workload
  • The candidates should have the ability to supervise, coach, and mentor junior staff members
  • The candidates should be capable of working under pressure, setting priorities, and meeting deadlines

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to exercise personal initiative and sound judgment in their work
  • The candidates should have the ability to effectively collaborate with elected officials, administration, and media outlets
  • The candidates should possess effective communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • The candidates should be able to conduct research and prepare departmental reports as needed
  • The candidates should demonstrate discretion when handling highly confidential matters
  • The candidates should have knowledge of the political and administrative structure and processes
  • The candidates should maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada and if the successful candidate possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide assistance to the Executive Policy Committee, Standing Policy Committees, Community Committees, Ad Hoc Committees, as well as all other committees of Council
  • The candidates should be able to arrange and attend meetings of Ad Hoc Committees, which may include evenings
  • The candidates should be able to provide assistance to various Committees of Council
  • The candidates should be able to assist in the supervision of support staff
  • The candidates should be able to compile and prepare written materials, including agendas, dispositions, minutes, and correspondence
  • The candidates should be able to provide committee research, accurately record and communicate decisions of Committees, and monitor and track matters in accordance with the Procedure and Organization By-laws and other policies of Council
  • The candidates should be able to act as an Election Officer and perform other duties as assigned to support the cyclical functions of the department, such as Elections, Board of Revision Assessment Appeals, Boards and Commissions
