Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a minimum of a high school
Experience: Candidates should have Previous on-air experience in radio or television

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a mature, positive attitude and an excellent ability to contribute to a team environment and critical thinker with strong editorial judgment
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to perform at a high level in a high-pressure, tight deadline environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have an acceptable combination of education and work experience and excellent on-air presentation skills
  • The candidates should have excellent Inuktitut skills and possess good writing and interviewing skills
  • The candidates should have a strong understanding of Inuit and northern issues and good computer skills and a willingness to maintain social media networks using external platforms like Facebook and Twitter

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to plan and organize, or participate in the planning and organizing of programs or program segments, ensure the preparation of material for broadcast, and assume production responsibility where a Producer
  • The candidates should be able to propose program ideas, suggest and line up guests or interviewees, prepare background notes and questions, and conduct interviews on or off air and write material for broadcast
  • The candidates should be able to develop and maintain contacts with a variety of sources and report information from various sources
  • The candidates should be able to evaluate information gathered, organize it, and present it on air in a coherent and understandable form and edit program material
  • The candidates should be able to interact with program participants such as guests, interviewees, panelists, and members of the audience, using interviewing skills to elicit pertinent facts and information and provide narration and linking continuity between program segments
  • The candidates should be able to describe actualities such as music programs, parades, and sporting or other special events and read newscasts, news bulletins, weather forecasts, and other survival information
  • The candidates should be able to ensure the proper operating condition of equipment by making the necessary checks and ensure that program audio mixes achieve optimum results
  • The candidates should be able to make emergency substitutions or repairs in case of technical failure to maintain clear and continuous service, ensuring appropriate follow-up
  • The candidates should be able to participate in community relations activities to promote the CBC and direct a program or program segment in studio or at a remote location
  • The candidates should be able to maintain an appropriate level of communication with members of the audience archive programs and program scripts and lineups and perform incidental technical functions necessary to ensure the smooth and continuous functioning of the station
