The Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is at the forefront of advancing sustainable practices within public transportation. Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed University degree in a related discipline (i.e., Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science) or combination of education, training, and experience deemed to be equivalent
Experience: Candidates should have Experience conducting climate change risk and vulnerability assessments and working knowledge of common industry climate risk assessment protocols such as PIEVC Protocol, ISO310000, ISO14091, ICLEI BARC, Canada’s Climate Lens Guidance, or other risk assessment frameworks is a definite asset

  • The candidates should be proficient in working knowledge of climate change risk and vulnerability assessments and framework, and organizational climate adaption planning
  • The candidates should be experienced in large public agencies or private sector firms in the areas of organizational climate adaptation and/or environmental sustainability
  • The candidates should have demonstrated working knowledge of local, national, and international best practices related to environmental sustainability related to buildings
  • The candidates should have experience reviewing engineering design drawing and specifications for sustainability and climate action opportunities and/or compliance with sustainability standards (e.g., LEED, WELL, SITES, RELi, Net Zero Carbon Standard)
  • The candidates should have experience with analyses of large data sets
  • The candidates should possess proven capability to support programs and projects
  • The candidates must be self-motivated with the ability to accomplish tasks with limited supervision
  • The candidates should demonstrate proficiency in the use of computer and software applications, including presentations, databases, spreadsheets, word processing, and any business continuity digital platform
  • The candidates should have an understanding of data science tools (e.g., RStudio, Python) and BI tools such as PowerBI, which is an asset

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to support the implementation of the TTC’s strategic approach to sustainability and climate resilience under the supervision of the Senior Analyst
  • The candidates should be able to conduct data analyses, identify climate vulnerabilities, and propose adaptation measures to integrate sustainability and climate resilience into projects and practices
  • The candidates should be able to track the TTC’s environmental sustainability performance and contribute to the development of guidance documents and plans
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with stakeholders and senior staff to create a climate adaptation plan
  • The candidates should be able to assist in developing and implementing a climate risk management framework and procedures, including operational key risk indicators and benchmarking performance
  • The candidates should be able to conduct project-level risk analyses to identify vulnerabilities and impacts of climate change on various assets, including infrastructure, facilities, and rolling stock
  • The candidates should be able to recommend climate adaptation measures for engineering designs, construction, and operations, and track actions to closure
  • The candidates should be able to establish a climate change impact reporting system to track and report events and impacts to the TTC
  • The candidates should be able to apply quantification methodologies to estimate and analyze the TTC’s environmental sustainability indicators such as greenhouse gas emissions, water, waste, and ecology
  • The candidates should be able to develop business cases for environmental sustainability measures and maintain the TTC’s greenhouse gas emissions inventory
  • The candidates should be able to process energy utility data for weather normalization and regression analysis
  • The candidates should be able to facilitate and coordinate the development of corporate sustainability reporting and external disclosure
