Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience working in a swimming pool environment and/or in a customer service role serving the public
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have the ability to perform sustained and repetitive tasks related to the role, such as being upright for long periods of time, while outside and in various weather and environmental conditions
- The candidates should undergo a Police Information Check, including a Vulnerable Sector check, satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be a minimum of 14 years of age; however, 15 years and older may be required depending on the facility
- The candidates should have experience working in a swimming pool environment and/or in a customer service role serving the public
- The candidates should possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to handle difficult situations
- The candidates should have the ability to effectively communicate and provide direction to facility users; proficiency in a second language is considered an asset
- The candidates should possess Intermediate First Aid and CPR Level C certification
- The candidates should demonstrate alignment with the Cultural Commitments of Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated, and Excellent, fostering an environment for others to do the same
- The candidates should demonstrate the foundational competencies, key behaviors, and attributes of the City’s six leadership competencies: Courage, Inclusivity, Values-Based Influencer, Collaborative Networker, Systems Thinker, and Creative Innovator
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to greet patrons in a friendly and respectful way
- The candidates should be able to ensure appropriate behavior and use of all equipment, such as slides and diving boards
- The candidates should be able to ensure the safety of all patrons using facility amenities and able to ensure patrons are obeying rules and general facility guidelines, including COVID-19 protocols
- The candidates should be able to assist lifeguards in crowd control and marking arms and able to assist lifeguards with opening and closing of the amenities
- The candidates should be able to control the movement of patrons in and out of the pavilions/dressing rooms
- The candidates should be able to clean touch points as required and able to maintain statistics and administrative tasks including timesheets
- The candidates should be able to act as a customer service representative on site and able to assist staff in emergency response as directed
- The candidates should be able to perform other related duties as required
