Position Overview
The City of Kamloops has a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Claims & Insurance Coordinator, whose work is thought-provoking, interesting, and diverse; meaning, you will never have the same day twice! As the Claims & Insurance Coordinator, your primary responsibility will be handling claims against the City.

This involves investigating, negotiating and settling claims. Possessing good analytical and interpersonal skills will be key when interacting with a variety of stakeholders. This role is integral to protecting public safety, City assets, and taxpayer interests by proactively managing risks for the City through the reduction or elimination of risk exposures to the public and the mitigation of damage to City properties. The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
Completion of secondary school or its equivalent.
Enrollment in the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) program with minimum completion of five courses (50% program completion) OR enrollment in the CIP program and Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) program with minimum completion of five courses.

Proficient in intermediate Word and intermediate Excel as demonstrated through testing (70% pass rate required).
Minimum three years previous experience in claims investigation.
For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check. A comprehensive benefits package is included with this position.
