Transportation information: Drive manual transmission vehicle, Valid driver’s licence, Willing to travel cross-border, and Willing to travel overnight
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years
Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports, Bill of lading, Dangerous goods occurrence reports, Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Trans-border documentation, and Trip reports
Type of trucking and equipment: Flatbed, Tractor-trailer, and Tractor-trailer A train
Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment
Transportation/travel experience: International, Long-haul, National, Provincial/territorial, and Short-haul
Own tools/equipment: Cellular phone, Hard hat, Steel-toed safety boots, Safety vest, and Gloves
Credentials: AZ class license, Air Brakes Endorsement, Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi-trailer trucks), and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate
Security and safety: Valid passport, Basic security clearance, Criminal record check, Driver’s validity licence check, Driving record check (abstract), and Drug test
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate attention to detail and be prepared for a large workload, capable of handling heavy loads, and willing to work overtime when required
- The candidates should be prepared for physically demanding tasks and comfortable sitting for extended periods, able to handle repetitive tasks, and capable of handling weight up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
Candidate Status:
- Canadian citizens and permanent or temporary foreign workers of Canada are eligible for this position
- International Candidates who don’t have a valid Canadian work permit also can apply
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to demonstrate mountain driving expertise and drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
- The candidates should be able to load and unload goods, operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, and oversee the condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment
- The candidates should be able to record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption, perform tarping, and ensure the safety and security of cargo, as well as transport and handle dangerous goods
