Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Grade 12 Diploma, or GED certificate, or an equivalent combination of training, experience and education
Experience: Candidates should have approximately 2 years of current related experience working in automotive or heavy duty equipment parts stockroom operation
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If an applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid
- The candidates must have or be willing to obtain City of Winnipeg forklift certification within six (6) months
- The candidates should have a Police Record Check satisfactory to the employer at their expense
- The candidates must be physically capable of performing the duties of the job, including, but not limited to, operating a forklift, climbing stairs/steps, standing, sitting, bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying objects up to 50 lbs
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess the ability to read and interpret parts manuals and related documents to look up parts and suppliers for ordering and knowledge of technical terminology required to conduct efficient business with customer clients
- The candidates should demonstrate experience and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and the internet, with the ability to learn and use PeopleSoft and fleet inventory tracking software systems
- The candidates should have experience with shipping, receiving, and distributing goods and experience with sourcing and purchasing inventory
- The candidates should have experience in computer data entry and inventory procedures and experience working in an environment with safe work practices and procedures
- The candidates should possess the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and exhibit effective interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with personnel at all levels, as well as external contacts (suppliers)
- The candidates should have the ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently and demonstrate strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records
- The candidates should have the ability to use a calculator or perform minor arithmetic calculations and possess knowledge of inventory control methods
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to assist the onsite Storekeeper 4 in the day-to-day computerized storekeeping and overall operation of their assigned WFMA store location(s)
- The candidates should be able to assist with timely, efficient, and cost-effective acquisition, warehousing, and issuing of various parts and materials related to light and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment and manufacturing shop operations
- The candidates should be able to issue these parts and materials to Winnipeg Fleet Management Agency (WFMA) Operation’s staff stationed in the various WFMA’s Garage and Manufacturing facilities, as well as all City of Winnipeg departments, other municipal departments, and special operating agencies
- The candidates should be able to assist in the inventory management and control of the WFMA Store’s assets of materials and goods and able to issue stock to meet the demands of internal trades staff and other City of Winnipeg departments
- The candidates should be able to order and receive inventory shipments from suppliers to replenish stock and able to perform general inventory management, including WHMIS documentation/processing, inventory pre-listing, and stock counts to conform to audit requirements
- The candidates should be able to assist in replenishing all designated stores stock inventory by purchasing required stock/materials using the computerized inventory procurement system or procurement card
- The candidates should be able to ship materials to external locations or to the original supplier and participate in the daily requirements of the Power tool program (Generators, concrete drills)
- The candidates should be able to track laundry and rental of shop coveralls/uniforms and other clothing for shop staff and review and post received inventory transactions electronically to the fuel software system and fleet inventory software system purchase order records
