Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualifications
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of six months’ experience as an Assistant Instructor

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to meet the requirement of being 15 years of age or older
  • The candidates should be willing to participate in training/in-service as required, occasionally outside of regular working hours

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be certified as a National Lifeguard (NL)
  • The candidates should hold certifications as Lifesaving and Swim Instructors
  • The candidates should possess Standard First Aid with CPR C and AED certification
  • The candidates should have completed training in High Five – Principles of Healthy Child Development

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to instruct learn-to-swim and lifesaving levels based on the Lifesaving Society curriculum and prepare lesson plans for all levels
  • The candidates should be actively involved in the programming taking place in the facility, including but not limited to lessons and recreational swims
  • The candidates should follow safety supervision basics and ensure the safety of program participants. They should practice a preventative approach to safety and make rescues and administer first aid when necessary, including completing proper documentation
  • The candidates should be able to evaluate students’ progress and complete accurately all forms and records, including but not limited to worksheets and progress reports
  • The candidates should be able to perform light cleaning duties such as window washing, deck sloshing, scum line maintenance
  • The candidates should maintain and ensure the proper storage of all pool equipment. They should place and remove lane lines, perform required pool testing, conduct morning and evening maintenance checks, and complete log sheets accordingly
