Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a technical diploma in a field related to forestry or resource management
Experience: Candidates should have two years of supervisory experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities, assignments, and corporate structures
  • The candidates should be able to keep current on emerging issues and willing to take in-house training and certification
  • The candidates should be able to fly in aircraft (fixed wing and rotary) and willing to work extended hours, including weekends, and be on standby with limited notice in accordance with the preparedness plan
  • The candidates should be able to travel and stay overnight in remote locations where accommodations
  • The candidates should be able to work under adverse or stressful conditions, including smoke, extreme heat, and mountainous terrain in remote and isolated areas

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a degree in a field related to forestry or resource management, plus one (1) year of related experience; plus three (3) years of related experience; OR Grade 12 plus five (5) years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and training
  • The candidates should possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent and participate in Incident Command System positions
  • The candidates should be able to obtain and maintain certification and training for the position to meet operational requirements

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to manage assigned portfolios as a Wildfire Technician and play a crucial role in natural disaster mitigation, primarily through fire suppression, directly impacting community safety
  • The candidates should be able to lead in emergency situations and make a meaningful difference for others
