Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have completion of a minimum of 10 years’ experience operating heavy equipment in a heavy industrial or mining environment
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be self-motivated team players with a positive attitude, strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, and effective leadership abilities
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be certified and accredited in the Surface Miner Common Core Program and in any specific module they will be instructing, preferably open pit mining
- The candidates should be able to assess machinery or equipment, including off-highway dump trucks, graders, drills, dozers, shovels, and other mine ancillary equipment
- The candidates should demonstrate proven competency in training and assessment methods and techniques to Canadian Mining standards
- The candidates should possess superb interpersonal skills with a supportive and positive approach to training
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to conduct training and development for Mine Mobile Equipment Operators, ensuring all site workers are competent, appointed, and skilled for their job functions and assist with the development of training programs in the Mining department
- The candidates should be able to assist with the creation of SOPs and procedures to ensure clarity and transparency in the progression of Operators and assist in maintaining the training and technical progression matrix for the Mining department
- The candidates should be able to ensure all employees working on site are duly authorized, appointed, and skilled and ensure assigned equipment is operated and maintained according to original equipment manufacturer specifications and industry best practices
- The candidates should be able to ensure employee training and legislative requirements are met and identify training needs or gaps and develop or revise training and assessment resources accordingly
- The candidates should be able to complete reports, coaching logs, and training sign-offs while ensuring proper record keeping and contribute to the continuous improvement initiatives of the department and enhance operator skill levels
- The candidates should be able to demonstrate a personal commitment to safety through work habits, one-on-one discussions, and workplace behaviors and highly skilled in the area of expertise they will be instructing
- The candidates should be able to prepare lesson plans and outline course materials to be used and handle other responsibilities as assigned by the Health and Safety Superintendent
