Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Baccalaureate degree in nursing
Experience: Candidates should have two years current nursing practice experience with one year in a Continuing Care based setting
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be physically able to perform all assigned tasks, including working independently in clients’ homes, which may include congregate settings, single-family dwellings, condos, and/or walk-up apartments
- The candidates should be capable of working in different settings and environments, including home environments and various weather conditions. They should also be able to lift and carry medical bags weighing approximately 25-30 lbs
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess excellent organizational and time management skills
- The candidates should have communication and assessment skills to work cooperatively and effectively with healthcare team members, clients, and their families in a fast-paced environment
- The candidates should have completed an accredited nursing education program and be active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA)
- The candidates should hold a current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
- The candidates should demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and proven critical thinking and decision-making skills
- The candidates should demonstrate their computer knowledge and proficiency by completing a hands-on assessment. This includes showing sufficient typing speed to meet workload demand and navigating through various computer programs, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Visio, Outlook, and the Internet
- The candidates should have experience in Palliative Care, Meditech and Connect Care and experience with complex clients, including acute, chronic, and end-of-life conditions
- The candidates should demonstrate experience with cardiac, IV therapy, and wound care
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to demonstrate strong team player skills and have responsibilities, including the assessment of needs, delivering appropriate therapeutic nursing services within professional practice standards, coordinating resources, establishing goals for client delivery, and evaluating outcomes
- The candidates should be able to act as a consultant on the team, providing clinical expertise and direction to other team members regarding their cases
- The candidates should be able to plan to address clients’ unmet nursing needs using appropriate internal and external resources through nursing assessment and interventions
- The candidates should be able to provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities, and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being
- The candidates should be able to utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making, as well as teach, counsel, and advocate on behalf of patients and their families
- The candidates should be able to play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance
- The candidates should be able to provide safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS
