Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Master’s Degree in Nursing
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years of obstetrical experience within the last seven years, with advanced clinical practice in perinatal care

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to occasionally lift or move medical equipment for education sessions, which may require physical strength
  • The candidates should be capable of auditory concentration in a classroom setting, listening attentively to obtain and interpret information accurately
  • The candidates should regularly sit to perform computer-related duties requiring fine finger or precision, such as research, policy, course development, and committee work
  • The candidates should be able to stand and walk regularly to perform education work in classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings and regularly engage in telephone and video communication with local, regional, and national health care providers
  • The candidates should occasionally be able to work in awkward or cramped body positions and possess strength and endurance

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have completed a Bachelor of Nursing Degree and hold a current practicing license with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL)
  • The candidates should demonstrate knowledge and experience in teaching and facilitation of adult education principles, including curriculum development, delivery, evaluation, and program development and evaluation
  • The candidates should exhibit clinical expertise and familiarity with equipment used in labor and delivery environments
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong leadership skills, conflict management, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • The candidates should provide evidence of active involvement or willingness to participate in continuing professional education development
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to act as a provincial clinical expert, providing consultation and guidance to hospital-based clinical educators and perinatal healthcare professionals
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate in knowledge development, education delivery, research, and advocacy for perinatal initiatives with Schools, Associations, Government Departments, Agencies, and NLHS Zones
  • The candidates should be able to work closely with the Provincial Perinatal Educator (Neonatal) on perinatal research, needs analysis, program design, evaluation, instruction, and policy development
  • The candidates should be able to plan, implement, and evaluate provincial perinatal standards, programs, and policies, and facilitate knowledge transfer
  • The candidates should be able to participate in training for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining chemical dispensing and other commercial equipment, while developing their territory by selling alongside distributor representatives and delivering exceptional customer service
